Much of my work is about understanding what needs to be communicated, asking the right questions, making sense of unfamiliar subjects, developing ideas, building trust and solving problems. That starts before anyone picks up a camera. It means getting to grips with the subject, finding the story within it, and working out how best to communicate it to the people who need to understand it. Alongside my professional work, I’m Chair of The POTATO Group and Co-Founder of atSTAKE. That has taken me into research, policy, campaigning, public speaking and engagement with government, parliamentarians, professionals and families. The common thread is the same one that runs through much of my filmmaking: understanding complexity, listening carefully to people with very different perspectives, and finding a way to communicate what matters.
