About Me

I’m a Newcastle-based Shooting Producer/Director, filmmaker and editor with more than 25 years’ experience across documentary, factual television, commercials and strategic communications.

Much of my work is about getting to grips with unfamiliar subjects, understanding what needs to be communicated, asking the right questions and finding the story within them. I’m used to working independently or as part of a larger production team, from early editorial development and contributor research through to directing, shooting and post-production.

I love working with people from very different worlds, from senior specialists and high-profile individuals to families, children and people sharing difficult or deeply personal experiences. Building trust matters, particularly when someone is being asked to talk about something complicated, sensitive or unfamiliar in front of a camera.

My production background is broad, spanning directing, shooting, editing, motion design, animation and 3D. That means I can move between the creative, editorial and technical parts of a project without losing sight of what the film is trying to do.

I’m comfortable working as a self-shooting P/D on small-footprint productions, directing larger crews, or taking a project through from the first conversation to final delivery.
